Matariki

This blog post is about Matariki also known as the Maori new year

In these 2 activities I have used my Collaboration, perseverance and absorption muscles.  I used my perseverance muscle at the Kohatu, I got stuck because my paper with all of the paint on it flew onto my stone and there was a big spot with heaps of different colors but I used my perseverance muscle and panted over.  I also used my Collaboration muscle In the carving because we all worked as a team and swapped around,  And I used my absorption muscle in the carving because I was so stuck in to carving I did not want to stop.

I am proud of myself because I have tried my hardest to complete these 2 activities

Some thing that challenged me was

using my perseverance muscle to finish the Kohatu

MATARIKI

In our hub we have been learning how to celebrate Matariki In lots of ways.

This is us carving

Matariki is a very special time of the year where all of New Zealand celebrate the Maori new year.  Matariki is also known as the Maori new year. I learnt that there is a Legend that the mother is one star and the other six are her daughters.

We got to choose out of lot's of activities I chose carving and Kohatu.  The carving was hard because you had to push as hard as you can to chip the wood of.  But I found the Kohatu Sooooooooo frustrating because the brushes were too big and there was only Black, Red, White and purple but both of them were still really fun.

This is us doing the Kohatu

This is a picture of us collaborating with each other

This is a picture of us absorbed in our learning
